Have you already made your New Year’s resolutions for 2016? If not, it isn’t too late to think about it now! And in today’s digital-centric world, where there’s literally an app for everything, you can take advantage of some of these clever devices to stay on track. According to Forbes, only 8% of people fulfill their resolutions. That is a bit disconcerting, but who isn’t up for a challenge? With hundreds of apps that are dedicated to helping people get fit, manage money, quit smoking, and more, you can finally make 2016 your best year yet. Check them out:

  1. Tile app (I actually bought this for the AC Lion gift exchange) – If you’re constantly losing and misplacing things, and your brain and budget can’t take it anymore, look no further! This app helps you track all of those important items you can’t seem to find when you need them most, like your wallet, keys, and smartphone itself. It’s a tiny Bluetooth tracker and app that finds everyday items in seconds. Don’t waste anymore of your precious time this year, and get focused on more important tasks.
  2. Mint – If your New Year’s resolution is to save money and manage finances, this is my personal favorite. It gives you a real-time, complete look into all of your finances, from bank accounts, credit cards, 401 K plans, and student loans. It automatically tracks your spending, categorizes it, and alerts you when/if you approach a budget limit you set. You can even ask for custom savings tips within the app.
  3. HealthyOut – This app is perfect for anyone who isn’t ready to give up the “eating out” lifestyle, but wants to ensure to keep their diets in check. Most restaurants don’t concentrate so much on health as they do on taste, so HealthyOut helps you spot the better options on the menu and makes meal modification suggestions. It lets you scour your local area for restaurants offering healthy plates, whether you’re looking for a meal that falls within a specific calorie range, or one that adheres to your dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.).
  4. Kickit – For all you smokers out there that hope this will finally be the year for clearer lungs and better health, Kickit is the way to go. This app helps you quit by displaying financial incentives. By showing how much money you save on the cigarettes you aren’t buying, this app helps you visualize how many days until you can buy something you’ve always wanted/needed, or finally get some money into that lonely savings account.
  5. Headspace – With more and more studies emerging on the importance of meditation and mindfulness for your mind and overall wellness, Headspace is an amazing app to jumpstart this practice. You can track your progress and get rewards as you go. They call it your own “personal trainer for the mind.” Sign me up!
  6. Job Interview Question-Answer New year, new job! We’ve definitely all been there before, as the “after-the-holiday-blues” set in next week and you realize, “I gotta get out of here!” Well, prep yourself for that next step with this awesome app. Users can practice tough questions in mock interviews, and there’s a recording option that allows you to play back and determine whether the answers you provided are as strong as possible. Then, watch a career professional answer each question and break down what an interviewer is actually looking for in your responses.
  7. Duolingo  Learning a new language has always been on your to do list, but you never have enough time, right? Duolingo could be your answer! Learning with Duolingo is fun and addictive, and there’s gamification built into every lesson. You earn points for correct answers, race against the clock, and level up. The bite-sized lessons are easy to swallow, and proven effective. It’s being used in classrooms too!
  8. Wunderlist – Just can’t get organized no matter how hard you try? Wunderlist has got your back. It’s the ultimate to-do list app that lets you create multiple lists with comments and reminders, and you can share them with friends and family. You can also upgrade to professional if you want to use it for work to collaborate with a team. Set due dates, and assign to-dos. You will never miss another deadline again with Wunderlist.

Share the apps that you absolutely can’t live without. Happy New Year everyone! I wish you a healthy and prosperous 2016.
